Tony Irving Bio
Tony Irving is a deacon assigned by the bishop to St. Benedict, Lacey. He was ordained in June of 1999 and has served in such outreach ministries as Habitat for Humanity and Kairos Prison Ministry. He began learning Spanish about 4 years ago and has assisted Fr. Don Maddux with the Hispanic ministry at St. Johns, Olympia for 3 years. He has been involved in pastoral care ministry for over 30 years.
Tony is a life long Episcopalian and has served on the vestries of Trinity Church in Seattle and St. John’s in Olympia. He served a term on Diocesan Council. He and his wife Lee have been members of St. Benedict’s for over 25 years.
Tony graduated from the University of Washington in 1963 with a degree in Education. He worked in the banking industry for 12 years and then for the State of Washington from which he retired after 21 years of service. He graduated from the Diocesan School of Theology (now DSOMAT) in 1993 and served as Intern Chaplin at Western State Hospital as part of his training for ordination.
Tony and his wife Lee have 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. It’s a “grand” family!
