Saint Benedict

The Bishops Committee and You

It’s going to be here before you know it!

Yes, it’s time for you to begin to pray about whether God may be calling you to stand for election to the Bishop’s Committee in 2008.  The Bishop’s Committee is an enthusiastic, energetic group of people who act as a decision-making body for St. Benedict.

What qualifications do you need?

Well, for starters – a commitment to Jesus Christ is the foundation.  This commitment is shown through:

  • Regular participation in worship as well as education and other learning opportunities
  • Pledging financial support early in the stewardship campaign each year
  • Offering talents to support the congregational ministry
  • Being active ministers of the Gospel in daily life and work.

And there’s more!

Our Bishop’s Committee at St. Benedict is an energized and hardworking group.  Each monthly meeting has agenda items of importance to the life of St. Benedict.  So it is important that Bishop’s Committee members treat attendance at every meeting as a high priority.  (Yes, we know that people take vacation – fun!  And get ill – not so fun!)  But aside from these things, attendance needs to be a first priority.  Also, each Bishop’s Committee member has a responsibility to act as a liaison to a group or ministry of the congregation.

Please consider if God is calling you to run for the Bishop’s Committee

The election is held in February, 2008 at our annual meeting. Please let Georgi or a member of the Bishop’s Committee know if you feel called. Or even if you’d just like more information, please speak to any member of the Bishop’s Committee. We have more detailed information available for you.
