St. Benedict Budget Breakdown Goals

Affiliation

Affiliation includes our Diocesan Support, funding for our Bishops and their ministry; for people like Jerry Shigaki and Carl Knirk and Joan Anthony. Funding for our Diocesan Convention and all the things we give to belong to the Episcopal Church.

Worship & Prayer

Worship & Prayer includes a large percent of the Vicar’s time and our Administrator’s time as well. Beth’s salary and all the wonderful supplies like wine and candles to make worship more beautiful.

Our Bishop’s Committee and the Vicar dream of a day in the future (maybe by 2009) when we can offer a Saturday evening service that would be a bit different from Sunday morning worship. We dream of increasing the number of hours that are musician works; thereby giving our choir and liturgy more time to be planned.

Christian Formation

This includes Amber Castaldo and her amazing ministry to our children, Susan our nursery care person, all the supplies for Sunday School for both adults and children.

Our kids dream of building their own permanent chapel space and youth room. They dream of having a playground here at the church to romp around.

Open Arms/Hospitality

This includes Newcomer’s program, coffee all the things we do to welcome people here. I dream of taking out billboards and putting ads on the radio and mailing postcards to all of Lacey, Olympia and Tumwater inviting them to church.

Outreach

Our outreach giving went up significantly this past year with the Community Dinner program. The Community Dinner dreams of hosting dinner every Saturday with the help of other churches. They would love to have someone help them administrate the Community Dinners program by calling other churches and inviting them to join us in feeding hungry people in our community.

Inreach

Inreach includes all those unglamorous items like our noxious weed tax and our maintaining our building. This year, we managed to set aside 5% of our budget for Emergency Funds. This is our fund to use in case the roof caves in tomorrow. Inreach makes sure that we are good Stewards of our building and property.

We dream of getting new flooring throughout our building , new paint on the walls, beautifying our worship space. Our Bishop’s Committee has started a building and grounds group that is looking into the care of our space. In 2008, this group will begin to think about the interior of our building space and what steps we need to take to beautify grow and continue to be a place of hospitality for all people.
