Saint Benedict

Lacey Odelle Smith Bio

Hello, all! I first would like to thank you for visiting our website and taking a look at our church. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me or call the office Mon-Thu 8 a.m. -5p.m.

A little bit about me: I am originally from San Antonio, Texas and moved to Olympia 4 years ago. I am a graduate from the University of Idaho and am currently working on my Masters in Teaching in Elementary Education. I am a single mom who often wonders how on earth I end up juggling it all. Thankfully, there are always a great bunch of people around the church who are always here with a kind word and an understanding ear.

My Faith: I was born and raised as a Roman Catholic, but never quite felt like I belonged. Through high school and most of college I studied various religions in the hopes of finding something...me. I wasn't always the best person in the world. I never did anything horrible to anyone, but I wasn't necessarily the nicest person either. Thankfully, one day that changed. That day, I was sitting in a pew in a local catholic church and a call went out for volunteers to teach sunday school. For some reason I knew I just had to do it. So, I did. I loved it! And through the teaching and explaining of prayers and the Word, I found me again. I now am a youth and small group leader for an Assemblies of God church in Olympia. It isn't the church I grew up in, but I have a community that I can grow and share my faith with. So how did I end up here at St. Benedict Episcopal Church, you wonder? I can only give you one answer. Because God opened up His house to me when He knew I needed it. All people are welcome to come through our doors. We are a house of love, compassion, faith and fellowship and we hope that you will come and experience that with us. Peace and Blessings!

Here are some of my favorites:

Book: The Lais of Marie de France by Robert Henning. (My all time favorite! Writer, warrior, woman...fantastic reading!)

Movie: The Princess Bride (True love, sword fights, giants, good vs. evil...what's not to love?)

Song: "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong (My all time favorite musician!)

Ice Cream: Vanilla with honey and cinnamon. Yum, yum!
